The 8 tools side by side: price, speed and trials

"Starting price" is each vendor's lowest published per-photo rate, usually their highest-volume plan; the entry-level tier costs more everywhere.

Prices and claims as published on each vendor's site, checked 28 September 2026: virtualstagingai.app/pricing, boxbrownie.com/pricing and /virtual-staging, applydesign.io/pricing, collov.ai/pricing, reimaginehome.ai/pricing, styldod.com/virtual-staging, pedra.ai/pricing. Stagey: pay-as-you-go packs, 2 credits per staged photo. "Free trial, no card" marked "partial" where a trial exists but is watermarked or doesn't cover staging itself.

How we compared

We read each vendor's own pricing and feature pages on 28 September 2026 and compared price per photo, stated turnaround, furnished-room support, free trial terms and extras. We didn't run our own photos through the competitors' tools, so this article doesn't rank image quality, only what each vendor publishes, plus Stagey's own pricing from our pricing page. For the full walkthrough of Stagey's own virtual staging software, that page has it.

The 8 tools, one by one

What each one is for, what it costs, and who it suits, based on the same pages linked above.

Stagey

Pay-as-you-go staging plus four more listing-photo tools (Day to Dusk, Sky Fix, Remove Clutter, Remove Furniture) on one account. A staged photo costs 2 credits, $2.08 to $2.40 on the pay-as-you-go packs, and returns in about a minute. Suits someone who wants more than staging from one tool. No human-edited option, no floor plans or 3D, and a furnished room needs Remove Furniture run first.

VirtualStagingAI.app

Priced per photo on monthly plans, $2.67 down to $0.53 a photo on their top tier, and one of the few tools that explicitly stages a room that's already furnished. No sign-up needed to upload and test a photo. Suits high monthly volume where per-photo cost matters most. Their 10-second turnaround is their own claim; we haven't timed it.

One of Stagey's own outputs: a Japandi-style bedroom, staged from an empty room in about a minute.

BoxBrownie

A human-edited service: professional editors place furniture by hand and measure the room to scale. Staging costs €30 per image, up to 48 hours turnaround, and new accounts get 3 free image enhancements plus one free Day to Dusk edit. Suits a listing where a person checking the placement matters more than speed; also does day-to-dusk, item removal and 360° staging.

Apply Design

Automated staging with a DIY editor, unlimited DIY revisions and a published 15-minute turnaround. Auto staging runs about $10.50 to $15 a photo depending on "coins" bought, first image free. Suits someone who wants to fine-tune furniture placement rather than accept one automated result.

Collov AI

Billed per photo credit, about $0.24 to $0.32 a photo depending on plan size, with a claimed 10-second turnaround. Beyond staging it does virtual tours, a twilight effect and lawn or pool touch-ups. Five trial photos free, watermarked. Suits an agency already paying monthly that wants more tools in one subscription.

REimagineHome

Priced $0.11 to $0.47 a photo credit by plan tier, with a conversational editing flow on Pro and up, plus real-product matching for sourcing the actual furniture shown. Five free designs, no card. No stated turnaround. Built by the same company as Styldod below.

Styldod

A human design team, not AI: $16 to $23 per image by order size, with paid rush add-ons for 12 or 24-hour delivery and unlimited free revisions. First image free. Suits a listing where a designer's judgement is worth the extra cost and wait; sits alongside Styldod's own AI tool, REimagineHome.

Pedra

Priced per credit, about €0.19 to €0.28 by monthly or annual billing, bundling staging with floor plans, 360° tours and property videos. New accounts get 7 free credits, a free video and a free virtual tour, no card. Suits someone who wants staging alongside marketing extras rather than a staging specialist.

Who shouldn't use Stagey

We'd rather you pick the right tool than the wrong one from us. Stagey is a poor fit in these four cases:

When another tool is the better choice
If you…Choose insteadWhy
Want a person to place and check every piece of furnitureBoxBrownie or StyldodHuman designers; expect 24–48 hours and a higher price per photo
Want to drag furniture around yourself until it's exactly rightApply DesignIts manual placement editor is built for that
Stage in bulk every month and only price per photo mattersVirtualStagingAI.app or REimagineHomeTheir top tiers are cheaper per image
Need 360° tours, floor plans or property videos from one vendorPedra or Collov AIThey bundle those with staging

Stagey fits when you want several listing-photo fixes in one place (staging, day to dusk, sky, clutter, emptying a furnished room), results in about a minute and pay-as-you-go pricing without a subscription.

AI vs. human virtual staging companies

Two of the eight tools above, BoxBrownie and Styldod, do the work by hand: a designer places the furniture, which is why they take hours rather than minutes and charge closer to physical staging. The other six, including Stagey, run on AI models and return a result in under a minute to about 15 minutes. Neither route is automatically the right one; it comes down to how much time you have.

AI tools (Stagey and 5 others)

  • A result in under a minute to about 15 minutes
  • Priced per photo or per month, mostly under $2.50 a photo (Apply Design's DIY editor is the exception)
  • A free trial or free credits on every tool we checked
  • Easy to re-run for a different style at little or no extra cost

Human-edited studios (BoxBrownie, Styldod)

  • Turnaround measured in hours: 24 to 48 hours is typical
  • Priced per photo, from about $16 up to €30
  • A person places the furniture and reviews it before delivery
  • Fewer free tries before you're paying for a re-order

How to choose

Match the tool to how you actually buy photos, not just to the lowest price per image on its homepage.

Questions people ask

What is the best virtual staging software?

It depends what you're optimising for. VirtualStagingAI.app's top tier and REimagineHome's Agency plan are the cheapest per photo. Stagey's case is pay-as-you-go pricing ($2.08–$2.40 a staged photo) plus four other listing-photo tools on one account. For a person to place the furniture, BoxBrownie and Styldod are the human-edited options.

How much does virtual staging software cost per photo?

Published rates run from about $0.11 a photo on the cheapest high-volume subscription tier to $30 for a human-edited image. Most AI virtual staging tools land between $0.20 and $2.50 a photo; Apply Design's DIY editor is the exception at roughly $10–15. See the table above for each vendor's own numbers.

Are the prices in this comparison current?

They're what each vendor listed on their public pricing or feature page on 28 September 2026. Vendors change pricing without notice, so check the vendor's own page before buying.

Do virtual staging tools work on a room that already has furniture?

It varies. VirtualStagingAI.app explicitly supports furnished and unfurnished rooms. Stagey's Stage tool is built for empty or near-empty rooms; a furnished room needs Remove Furniture first. Check the vendor's page for your room before buying credits.

Do I need to disclose virtual staging in a listing?

Most portals and MLS boards ask you to label a virtually staged photo, and the property must still look as it is. Our disclosure guide (linked below) covers the rules by country and board.

Which virtual staging software is fastest?

VirtualStagingAI.app and Collov AI both claim a 10-second turnaround; we haven't independently timed either. Stagey measures about a minute in production. The human-edited options, BoxBrownie and Styldod, run 24 to 48 hours because a person does the work.
